Thanksgiving

Last Thursday it was a special day. Lets just leave at Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is when the pilgrims gave thanks to god for not freezing to death in the winter and finding food. They celebrated this with the Indians that were already on land when the pilgrims came to America. They had a grand dinner with supposedly turkey, corn, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and for dessert pie. People throughout Canada and the US celebrate this holiday on the fourth Thursday of November each year. On Thanksgiving EVERYTHING closes. You cant buy anything last minute. You can only buy it the Wednesday before.

This year my family went to celebrate with some friends. Now, people here gather their whole family and they all have the dinner together. However, all my family lives in Spain and they don't celebrate Thanksgiving there. Our friends made the turkey, stuffing, yams (a type of root), gravy, cipolline (Italian), and the mashed potatoes. My family helped out by making the cranberry sauce and orange rolls. Then for dessert we didn't have pie but my friend made delicious cupcakes.

After the Thursday of Thanksgiving there comes Black Friday. Black Friday is a day when all the stores are open and on sale. This year most shopping malls opened at midnight.
